Tramezzini

Mouthwatering, fresh and fast Italian aperitivo sandwiches!

From the meaning of the word "tramezzo" (in between), a tramezzino is the perfect tea sandwich to be eaten between meals, just as Gabriele D'Annunzio wanted to convey when he created this word in Italian.

The main ingredient is "Pane da Tramezzini" or tramezzino bread (linked here), but it can be substituted with crustless sliced bread.

It can be done any way you like it to satisfy every palate.

Here are some ideas:

- Tramezzino Caprese: Bufala mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil and mayo

- Tramezzino Parma: prosciutto crudo di Parma, gorgonzola and lettuce

- Tramezzino Tirolese: mushrooms, bresaola, walnuts and mayo

- Tramezzino Ortolano: grilled bell peppers, zucchini and ricotta

- Tramezzino Pescatore: tuna, capers and mayo (pictured below)

- Tramezzino Verde: avocado, roast beef, arugula, celery and Parmigiano (pictured below)

- Tramezzino Treviso: ham, eggs, radicchio trevigiano, Swiss cheese and mayo (pictured below)

- Tramezzino Bellagio: speck, arugula, brie and mayo (pictured below)

Sandwich your tramezzini and cut them in half, either into rectangles or triangles. Serve as an aperitivo accompanied with fruit juices, sodas, or with the traditional Venetian Spritz (Prosecco, tonic water and Aperol apéritif).
